Abstract

This paper titled "Gender Archaeologies and Ecologies of Gender in Selected African Narratives" aims at exploring the relationship between gender and archaeology as depicted in some African texts. Using gender archeology and ecofeminism as critical tools to interpret these narratives, the study argues that the representation of women in literature has an archaeological significance. The study found out that these eco-cultural gender roles have evolved over centuries, some for them good, and others move towards doom and at the expense of the woman’s wellbeing and African values as depicted in African archaeological texts. In essence, rooted in the African cultural ecology are gender relations that have archaeological impetus.
